When you first start running contacts (or test contacts) through a campaign, you may find yourself wondering why they aren't entering it, or nothing is happening.
This is almost always just an issue with a query, or a setting. Here are a few questions to ask yourself if you think you are experiencing this behavior.
1. Does My Test Contact Match The Campaign Trigger?
Sequence campaigns have two types of triggers: Contact Changed & User Triggered.
User Triggered Campaigns
Since User Triggered campaigns are manual, all you need to do is make sure you are following the steps in this article.
If you are following those steps for a User Triggered campaign, move on to the next section of this article.
Contact Changed Triggers
If your trigger is "Contact Changed", confirm your test contact matches the query.
A good way to test queries is to build a Contact Segment. Go to Contacts > Contact Segments and replicate your query there in a new segment. This will allow you to see all the contacts in your database that match the query.
In fact, this is a really good way to start building and testing your trigger query. Use a contact segment to build your trigger query and see the results before using it in the campaign.
If you have determined your test contact(s) do indeed match your trigger query, move on to the next section below.
2. Has My Test Contact(s) Been In This Campaign Before?
This is a very common situation people come across when testing campaigns. By default, every campaign has the option "Only allow a person to go through this campaign once" turned ON.
This is a safety feature of FunnelFLARE. For testing, you can turn this off as you are likely going to run the same test contacts through the campaign several times. So if you keep adding the same contact to a campaign and nothing happens, check that this setting is turned off.
However, just make sure you remember to turn it back on before going live with the campaign.
There are a few cases where leaving it off are valid, but for most cases it should be on.
